BBVA has received preliminary approval from the Abu Dhabi Global Market Financial Services Regulatory Authority for a Category 4 (CAT4) license. This permit will allow the bank to expand its corporate and investment banking activities and strengthen its position as a strategic partner for corporate and institutional clients in the region. Eduardo Ortiz Gros, head of Corporate and Investment Banking at BBVA in the Middle East, has been appointed as the new CEO of the Abu Dhabi branch, taking the lead on the bank's operations in the area. Javier Rodriguez Soler, Global Head of Sustainability and Corporate and Investment Banking at BBVA, stated: "Obtaining this license is a significant step forward."
